I have been a Sky Sport watcher for 20 years.

Moved to VodafoneTV once I had got Fibre in my area (hated RAIN FADE)

But the few quirks of Vtv annoye me (one for the 30-60 odd seconds of delay from normal broadcasts is one)

But since It is mainly just Sports I watch. Shall I just dump Vtv and use the Sky Sports Now app? (at least then I can watch the cricket at work)

Has anyone actually compared Sky Satelittle/Sky Sports App/Sky Go/Vodafone TV?

You'll still have the large delay (always will with streamed sport)

It's usually 30-40 seconds behind

Just the reality of internet streaming unfortunately. A delay is unavoidable

Even DVB distribution ends up delayed due to processing; local content is probably seconds behind but international live events where up to 30s behind the actual live point.

It is more Vtv's feed is they are getting their footage from sky via satelitte, so there is an extended delay again

Feed from Sky to Voda is unlikely to be via satellite, more likely a fibre circuit.

From the tv truck to the Sky decoder is 8 seconds, just to give you a head start on it. Ive personally seen it in Invercargill.

Sky Satellite is best

SSN has some judder, not bad, but noticeable, motion blur on balls is annoying. The image itself is crisp. Ive seen artifacts when panning to grass as in golf

Sky Go is a good enough image, at tablet level, SSN is crisper

SSN the pause seems flakey, there is no RW/FF on the app, just browser. Replays are few and far between, so it hardly covers the recording function in Satellite

Also kayo has been pretty solid since the start, 1080p streams too, the rugby ball doemsejt get blurry which is nice.

I must agree that the sat image is pretty good,

It's about time sport is delivered in 4k60 though.

Sky satellite is apparently 1980's old tech and stupid. Why cant online do it at least as that good all the time? Netflix is fine as is Lightbox etc. If live sport streaming was truly live, no buffering, all on the fly, I can get that, but its not. It gets recorded (as any content would be), it gets processed, then it gets sent online, where the content should buffer at the CPE, so that it plays off that memory buffer, just as piraters played off the HDD. I can only assume that to cater for time, cost, and many different devices, it gets diluted from the recorded original.
