Hi there,

Has anybody else experienced issues with SkyGo on an IOS device that's "managed" by your company?

Since the updates last September all I get is the error "You aren't connected to the internet" when opening the app. This error happens on Wifi or 4G where other devices in the house work fine.

Another colleague at work has the same issue, so there's something between the way the app works and the MDM my company has installed on our phones.  Incidentally the Sky Sports Now app works fine.

Just seeing if there are any workarounds I could try, or ?.

Thanks

Looks like it's not connected to the internet.

I have a feeling, consistent with HandsomeDan, that it’s not connected to the internet.

Working fine for me on Slingshot Fibre using iOS. I note you are trying to use 4G, do you have any data left?

Sorry I probably wasn’t clear in my query.

My ios is connected to the internet, Sky sport now for example works fine over 4G or WiFi. I have unlimited broadband and mobile data. It’s not a connection or data / performance issue.

It’s an issue between the SkyGo app and the security software my company pushes to my phone.

SkyGo app must authenticate differently to how Sky Sport Now does and not be able to connect through to their servers.

The error message is a bit misleading.

Not sure if there’s any software/apps available to troubleshoot starting SkyGo up and seeing where the problem lies. this is the only app that has an issue.

It is pretty clear that it’s the MDM policies set up by whoever owns the phone.

I suggest you take it up with the MDM administrator; everyone else on this forum can only guess.

I was going to say it may be because you have mobile data turned off for the skygo app but if it’s occurring on both mobile data and wifi it’s unlikely to be the issue...

All I can say is it works fine on my personal iPhone and iPad which obviously don’t have any MDM policies.

Sky Sports now, skygo and neon don't use the same back end auth system. I would say the MDM profile is blocking the connection.

It will be a hard one to fix but you will need to contact the person/team that setup your MDM profile.

Hi I'm seeing the exact same error in SkyGo, and like you all other apps are able to access the Internet fine, and I also have MDM applied to the phone. In my case, MDM deploys the Zscaler web filtering app in which is the problem, as when I disable Zscaler, SkyGo works fine. I'm assuming the cause is due to SSL Certificate Pinning in the SkyGo app, meaning Zscaler can't perform SSL inspection. The fix will be to bypass SSL inspection in Zscaler for SkyGo URL's. We have tried bypassing skygo.co.nz & sky.co.nz in Zscaler, but the issue persists. Does anyone know what URL's we need to bypass SSL inspection to get SkyGo working?

Hey thank you for the reply.  I'll check that out.

The other week I tried it on my older iPhone6+ and it did pop up with the same error.  I'll swiped out of the app, opened up another app and used that for a bit then swiped back into the SkyGo app and it logged in.  Weird.

That particular iPhone does not have any MDM.

After performing a Wireshark capture I've found I needed our admin to allow the following url's in Zscaler SSL Bypass to allow SkyGo from mobile. I don't know if these hosts will change over time though.

  • my4qgjt3z4.execute-api.ap-southeast-2.amazonaws.com
  • d3ixddxt9eoet7.cloudfront.net
  • feed.theplatform.com

Hope this can help someone else.

I also needed to whitelist prod-epg.sky.co.nz from SSL inspection to see EPG info in the app.
