I just got mysky HDI at the end of September, and since having it, it has crashed numerous times.  If I change the channel, the screen freezes and I have to press the reset button.  Had a lot of failed recordings. So I had become too scared to trust it and had been double recording the really important shows via the DVD Recorder.

So, I called Sky up and they came to replace my myskyhdi box today.

Tonight I set it up to record TV1 and TV3 - both programs started at 8:30pm.  And we watched a DVD.

Later on in the night when I went to set up another movie on MGM starting at 10:00 I noticed that it missed the start of the TV3 Recording and had the error 20.

Now, this device is capable of recording two shows at a time and it seems it is very tempermental.  I don't know how I could be using the device wrong.  (But I was told the reason it was freezing was because I was telling it to do too much)...I don't think changing channels is asking it to to do much).

Other people have said the freezes are because it is too hot.  If it was too hot, it would just freeze and crash on it's own.  It is the moment you change a channel that it decides to have a hissy fit and freeze.  There is a lot of air flow around myskyhdi and the problem occurs even moments after turning it on first thing in the morning when it is still cool.  Also, if there is a heating failure in these boxes the simple solution for manufacturers is to put in a better cooling system that can handle it.

I am beginning to think that I should have built my own pvr at the advice of a friend who built his own one as he is computer savvy.

I will see how this box goes - but it would be nice if sky had a page of what all the error codes mean.
