Hi All,

On the back of the announcement today that ESPN.com will show more NFL content, I tried to set this up on my devices. (I tried in May too when this was originally floated.)

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32168929/how-watch-new-nfl-season-2021-22-schedule-live-espn-australia-newzealand

I initially assumed Sky TV would be under the list of "TV providers" which they are not.

On the Android app on my phone and Tablet i had to change to the "Australia" version then under Video Settings I could select NZ - Sky and login with my Sky credentials .

On the website which took a lot longer, there is no way to "log-in" to ESPN with the Sky credentials. I had to click into WatchESPN then attempt to watch a video. Then a "choose provider" pop up window appears with Sky TV as the only option (I assume it picks up that I am in NZ). It seems that I'm not actually logging into the ESPN website to access this though.

However, I'm stuck on Android TV  (Google Chromecast with Google TV).

I'm downloading the ESPN app from the playstore (same with the Android phone) but there are no options to log in other than going to go to espn.com/activate. And because I have no login to ESPN and Sky TV are not in the long list of "TV Providers" i can't log in there to activate.

Has anyone had success trying on Android TV? Or any ideas?

I just tried it out through the website.

"Watch ESPN" took me to the provider window with Sky TV - and then took me to a Skytv my account login before running the video.

When I did it a second time, because I was logged in on this computer already, it took me straight to the video.

So I am guessing you are already logged in to Sky's "MyAccount" if it just started playing the video.

Can't be of assistance with the Android TV issue though.

It's not terribly clear how to link the account but basically if you log on with a Disney account and then play a video it will start the link process. I had to disable both my ad blocker and Edge's tracking protection before I could log on to Sky though.

I doubt the ESPN app on android tv will work, it (along with the apple tv app) seem to be US only. You will have to view via the phone app and then cast it from there.

Yeah I think the ESPN Android TV app is US only. Even though my ESPN account is now linked to Sky it isn't linked to anything in the Android TV app. If I try to link it then it only gives the US provider list with no way to change country.

Semi related to ESPN, they will be showing all NHL games for the upcoming season on ESPN.com and the app for Australia and New Zealand. Hopefully they update the android tv and apple tv apps to enable direct streaming! Plus hope they have home/away feed options like nhl.tv offered, think they will as the nhl.tv service is being superseded by ESPN+ in the states. Exciting times!

Has anyone found an Android tv or firestick  app that works for ESPN AU/NZ?

I have watched though a lap top using my sky log in , via this site  https://www.espn.com.au/watch/?country=nz , but the app would be better.

Also i note the NHL pre season are on the ESPN AU/NZ, currently San Jose Sharks vs. Anaheim Ducks is on just now.  I also note my NHL TV account is still showing pre season games today, but looks like that service will end. So another reason to get espn app working.

You can’t use the tv app it is for the US only, you should be able to use the mobile app on either iOS or android though as long as it is set to au/nz. You log in like you do on the website. You can then AirPlay or chromecast to a tv.

Alternatively you could use a vpn and use the tv app and get an ESPN+ sub.

It’s been confirmed all regular season games will be on the app/website. Preseason games a bit hit and miss as to whether they’re on or not. Had to resort to a streaming site to watch the bruins today.

Are you able to view the pre season on the nhl app? Whenever I hit “watch” it kicks me to the ESPN app

Hi thanks for the reply.
Got the ESPN app working. First I did not log in to the app . Then went to setting, change to Australia, then seleced sky NZ . Then loged in via my sky account.

Looked at a few NHL games on-demand. They are working. It's good I won't have to get the NHL.tv app now all games covered with sky sub . Thanks handy . Shane ESPN Australia/NZ does not have a fire stick or android TV app.

The NHL.tv app stoped working today for me . So I guess it's done now .

Have u used ESPN + app with a Vpn on a firstick or android TV? I can't get it working with a Vpn and firstick . But works on laptop.

Thanks, Yesterday I sideloaded the espn app to my fire stick. (the one form the google play store link on the espn AUZ website).

It works and I got live and on demand streaming working. stream quality is good. But the app is a bit clunky and clearly not designed for firestick, i also has to use the mouse toggle tool for some features.

BUt at lest I can watch hocky on the tv now. (i don't rally like watering on phones or laptops. )
