After a month and a half wait have finally got install today as per my original booking. Technician confirmed and arrived at said time. He did mention a lack of decoders in the country so this confirms previous posts re this issue. Picture with HDMI is much improved and features with My Sky are being explored with much ethusiasm.

Spoke with a mate who ordered hiis middle of December and it was installed a couple of weeks ago! He was a new Sky customer and had got a free 6 month deal with the purchase of a new TV. Looks as though there are decoders but they are holding them for new customers and as the techie said yesterday, for replacements due to breakdowns. I'm quite happy i didn't "give" in to the help desk's suggestion I cancel my install for a later date( as per my previous post).

This is exactly what happened to one of my workmates, when he organised to upgrade to My Sky HDI. He was an existing Sky customer and waited longer (around a month, more or less) than his brother, who was a new customer. The brother got his extra quick.

I am a current sky subscriber and ordered a MySky Hdi between Christmas and New Year.  They would have installed it this last Tuesday but I'm away from home at present and am scheduled to have it installed next Tuesday.  I live in the Dunedin area.  That's about a month to wait.

Just to confirm there is a shortage of these decoders,

as to the situation of new customers getting them before upgrades, put yourself in skys pocket

we are already getting money from the upgrade person, that won't change
we won't get money from the new customer until its installed, thats more important

its all business and $$

if you book one at the moment its a 6 week wait.

Anybody knows it costs way more to get a new customer than keep an existing one. If Sky does not look after its existing customers they will end up with them leaving. The only thing Sky has going for it is it monopoly position. Oh for competition because if there was an alternative you wouldn't see me for dust.... I'd even pay extra just for the satisfaction of telling them where to stick it!

Finally got ours installed today!

I am happy, seems like it was well worth the wait :)

And Im glad I can get 5.1 audio using the coax output too, as I only have one optical input on my 5.1 audio system.

We had ours installed a couple of weeks after launch.

Never looked back.
