Good day geeks
Does anyone know if Sky decoders have GPS devices installed, or are there any other known geographical restrictions, or service time-outs in this regard to the multi room service they offer? Asking for a friend.
thanks
frank

Simple answer - No
-- opinions expressed by me are solely my own. ie - personal
You might be meaning can you take box to another address? Yes in theory you could plug into any sat enabled address. But may require LNB setting change.
I know several people that had many multirooms "in their house" that are not there, but with their kids in their flats. Funnily enough the disused boxes came back to the parents place when the box swaps were happening and just got returned.
They have nothing in them to detect that.
Multiroom was/is the 90s version of sharing your Netflix ID round....
Not sure why anyone has a Sky decoder anymore (assuming they have fast broadband internet). It seems to me that the only remaining point of SkyTV is their sport offering as other cheaper services are better for movies and most/all the FTA stuff is available on streaming . So if you want Sky Sport only, then get SkySportNow and an inexpensive streaming device (e.g. Fire TV Stick) in any room that needs it.
You can take your phone and a Chromecast device anywhere with a TV and get anything you subscribe to. No need for multiroom in your house, holiday home, boat, hotel etc?
Yea in my experience Sky really don't care. I remember when I took my Sky decoder to the bach for the holidays and couldn't get it to work, their call centre was happy to guide me through setting it up on the different LNB (and how to reset it back if/when I took it home)

SkySportNow is a painful experience. Watching sport at 25fps actually makes me ill, I get nauseous if I watch it for too long. There are much better options which can be discussed in the unblocking services forum.

But low FPS is "cinematic" so you must enjoy it!
People seem to not believe me when I say watching movies is sickening and say I have to endure it how the director intended it. At least with sport they probably intended for 60 which is acceptable if not great.

It's a Gen-X thing. We still like to channel surf.
Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
