HELP. I don’t know whats going on but over the last 4-5 weeks or so the picture on my Samsung Smart TV have gone haywire, it now is exceedingly bright on 80% of programs “through Sky” my old recorded programs are perfect so it is not the TV at fault. Any ideas?

Have you mistakenly set the HDMI input that your sky uses to vivid mode? most tv's each hdmi input has its own independent settings

That makes sense as picture quality through streaming TVNZ+ appears normal but I will have to swat up on how to do it. Thank you muchly.

Just watch sky and adjust the TV settings via your remote. Check the picture mode is set to standard and not some stupid sports mode that sets the backlight and every thing else to near max

Are you saying that programs via the Sky decoders are too bright but older content that's been stored on the decoder hard drive is OK. Does it make a difference whether it's a free to air channel or a Sky channel?

That's how I read it. Glad I'm not the only one.

That time frame appears to match with when Sky did a satellite switchover from Optus D1 to D2 ?
Middle of last month - 4-5 weeks ago

That rings a bell, I remember also that the Sky box went into update mode about that time I cant find any settings that have changed but I may have missed something, as to free to air channels I had not noticed any difference but will recheck, and yes programs recorded on Sky box say 2 mths ago are ok, I will have to do more detailed checking. Thank you all for your replys.

It makes no logical sense what you have written,

Can you provide a photo example? showing an old recording vs a current program from the same channel.

Now recovering from a spell in Hospital I have noticed a big difference in picture quality or my eyesight, I have seen only one over bright picture in quite a few hours of viewing it was a very short self promo and was over before I realised.
