Hi there, I am new to this forum

I have relocated to another house and taken my digital decoder with me (not HD)

The house I've moved to has a dish which was used for freeview.

When I plug it in, it shows about 75% strength but 0% signal.

Any ideas as to how I make this work?

Regards
Ian

Hi, Ian, first thought would be (assuming the dish is still ok and was infact pointing at D1) that the LNB setting is wrong, here is a form I leave with customers where I install a dish on say their beach bach, follow it and see what settings your STB is currently set to, then try the other.

Oh, and welcome to GeekZone.

We had the same issue when we moved from having our own dish to a MDU.

A quick call the Customer Services, and she talked me through the settings. Was up and running in less than 2 minutes.

Thanks guys, that worked a treat.

I didn't want to ring sky as this is actually a 2nd decoder in another house..

One other quick query. I have a scart to rgb cord. It never worked between the decoder and the TV, so just use normal scart to y/r/w component. When I have a look at the advanced settings I saw that you could change the scart outputs. I changed the "tv" scart to rgb, but i still had no picture when i plug the rgb cord in.

any ideas
Ian

Does your TV accpet RGB or YUV(aka YCrCb or YPrPb) component, (YRW is composite not component) Even though your TV may have three RCAs coloured RGB  they are more likely to be YCrCb which is not compatible. If your decoder says it will output Component from the TV SCART then that should work.

It accepts RGB as my HDD DVD uses these. I might double check the TV settings. If you can have s-video, component and composite all for 1 AV channel, do you need to select it in the settings.

Tv is a Panasonic, Plasma 37", HDMI inputs etc

DVD works fine with this plug, but sky doesn't.

Thanks agian

Hi, I dont know of any NZ retailed Panny TVs that accept RGB only YCrCb, your DVR may if it has SCART but once again I dont know of any that accept RGB only some with SCARTs.

In the SCART setup menu in the Sky box you first are prompted to select the output type of the TV SCART, once selected you are immediately moved to set the VCR SCART output. When selecting the TV SCART if your STB support component it will be shown in the menu, in addition to composite, S-Video and RGB. If you select RGB or Component then the VCR SCART will only be able to do Composite regardless of what the menu offers. (this is only true on some models). Also note that when either RGB or Component are selected the TV SCART will also output Composite as RGB requires this for Sync, but YCrCB component does not but still outputs the composite channel. A SCART connection can support upto 4 video output channels and 1 input channel, so in the case of RGB thats R,G,B and Composite for sync, same for Component but the composite is not used for anything unless you use it.
