MIL got a new sky box today and I cant physically get there, previously we have used HDMI in to the TV from the old sky box, and optical out from the TV into a sound bar.  Now she has no sound from sky? What are the settings on the HDMI menu to set this up please?

SPDIF menu on Sky box only has two settings, Dolby Digital and PCM. Defaults to Dolby Digital so change to PCM and test.

Thank you, but it's not coming out of the SPDIF port on the sky box but from the TV.

Change your thread subject as totally misleading.

 

Find the relevant optical output setting on the TV and toggle that between Dolby and PCM.

My Samsung only allows PCM selection with Sky Box HDMI source, identical setup with TV optical output into Sonos.

More likely Sky Box is muted or volume turned down.
