Is anyone else having problems with the live pause function of Myskyhd?

Example:

Tonight
I paused Fair Go as I has to put the kids to bed and got a little
distracted.  So by 7:50pm I started watching it.  It said I was 20
minutes behind live TV - which is right.  But as I was watching that
gap got a lot shorter - to the point at 8:10 (20 mins later) a message
pop up and said end of recorded tv...

I still had about 5-10 mins left of fair go.

I
thought the live pause recorded buffer was able to store 60 mins of
live tv?  So if I watch 20 mins of it, it will keep recording the next
lot of data until I caught up somehow or decided to ff to live tv.

Is my understanding of this wrong?

Nothing else was recording at the time on any of the tuners.

We
used to be able to say for instance, pause the first 20 minutes of
Lost, so that we would be able to ff all the ads, so by time it got to
the end of the show, or a few mins into the next show - we didn't have
to watch any ads, and we knew it would keep recording the rest of the
next program, as long as we kept within that 60 min timeframe.

I've just been having so much problems with the whole myskybox it is doing my head in big time.

Yet,
it is our only main way of recording tv (apart from the DVD recorder,
but that only records one channel at a time, and is only used as a
precautionary measure).

I think I do have a faulty box, but
trying to watch everything I've recorded, so that I can get a
replacement - is just really hard, and I have even sacrificed a whole
lot of shows too.  Still not caught up.

This has happened twice now.  Second time was just tonight.  I was only 15 minutes behind live tv.  But I missed the end of Fair Go again at 8:08pm.

I would really appreciate if someone could clarify or explain how Live Pause is supposed to work?

I did have this posted in my other Sky Thread, but it seemed to have gone unanswered and I am still in the dark.

We have been having similar issues recently with Live Pause, and we are still using the original MySky. It happened again tonight on ONE News, despite being less than 60 mins behind the live broadcast.

In my experience, the more reliable method is to press REC twice before you dash away. Then the rest of the programme will be saved in the Planner.

That is a good idea..just record everything if you know you need to pause it.

But surely the live pause function should work as intended. They advertise it as a feature and if it is not working properly, we the consumer are not getting what we are paying for.

I am glad I am not the only one having this probelm.

MyskyHD just drives me loopy.

i have never had a problem but i never use it that much, i presume you have checked the recording time in your menu you can set it from 60 min down to 5 min, just a thought

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Is that the instant rewind setting in the recording menu?

Mine was set to off...maybe that was the problem?

kiwipearls: Is that the instant rewind setting in the recording menu?

Yep, that would be the one.

Mine was already set to 60 mins, so it doesn't seem to have been the problem in my case.  But if yours was set to OFF, that could explain a few things.  Hopefully, it should work properly for you when set to 60 mins.

I have the same problem, but have found that it has still recorded the complete program, despite what the message says. You should be able to press play again and select last viewed option rather than Start to carry on watching from the point you got to.
