Ive just had My Sky installed and find unlike the old Sky Box there is no RF out on My Sky.

I have the HDMI direct to Tv then the other cables go to
1 Home Theatre
2. DVD recorder/player.

DVD has RF out but I cannot get a signal from there to to feed to the bed room.

What settings etc do I need to do so. Or is there a feed from My Sky Im not seeing I can utilise

I also see talk of having TV set at HDMI2 I cant find HDMI2 on my TV ( Panasonic Vierra)

Most DVD recorders do not have modulators.  Neither does MySkyHDi.  A modulator is required to turn an AV signal into RF.
You have a number of options.
1.    Get a modulator from Sky to connect to your MySky AV out.  Cost $50 installed.
2.    Get a modulator from Dick Smith, Jaycar etc and fit to your DVD recorder AV out. Cost about $50.
3.    Run AV (composite + audio L/R) cables direct from either MySky or DVD recorder direct to your other TV (better picture quality).

What Panasonic TV are you talking about?  Can you confirm whether you have connections going direct from MySky to recorder and HT or do they go through the TV first?  What 'talk' do you mean for HDMI2 because every AV setup may be a little different and a generic guide may be of no help at all.

My TV is Panasonic Vierra

DVD is Panasonic DMR EH 55

Connections HDMI direct to TV
Other Connections Direct to HT and DVD from My Sky.

The house is 12 mths old and pre wired with normal Coax ?? tv aerial wire from lounge to bedroom

Seems you suggestion of a modulator is going to be the way to cure the problem

Thanks in advance for you advice.

The problem with a modulator is that you get terrible picture quality. IMHO if you have any sort of flat screen TV it's a waste of time.

As others have pointed out you can buy a RF modulator which will cost around $50. In your situation the easiest and simplest would be to get a video sender, at least doing composite video you will get a far superior picture to what you will get from the RF modulator.

If you have a reasonable sized flat screen HDTV and want the best picture quality then the best method (that also costs the most) is a HDMI splitter and a new cat5e runs to the bedroom and using baluns at each end so you can run HDMI.

Isn't a video sender just a modulator/transmitter and an aerial/demodulatorUndecided.  If the bedroom TV is a SD CRT an RF signal will be okay.  If it's a flat panel, I've got to agree with sbiddle, it probably will be a little disappointing.

Panasonic Viera is a brand name, I was after what model number you had to determine how many hdmi ports.

The way your MySky is configured it looks like you have some spare ports to connect either a modulator or some AV cables.

I split my MySkyHDi from the lounge were the STB is, this way.

MySkyHDi > HDMI 1x2 Splitter > one HDMI feed to the plasma downstairs the other HDMI feed via 15M of (HDMI over cat6) to the plasma upstairs. The whole thing works a treat, and never misses a beat!. Upstairs I think use a 2x1 Pigtail HDMI switcher and this feeds MySkyHDi in port A and a BD player in Port B. Port A remains on all the time as I never turn off MySkyHDi, if I want the BD player I just power it on an it then auto grabs the HDMI signal from Sky. Simple easy and very neat! When i turn the BD player off, we are back to Sky automatically. Laughing

Take a look what I use.

I have a Plasma in the Lounge (Panasonic TH 42PA60A) Vierra and a CRT screen in the bedroom so HDMI to the bedroom is not an option I need RF Out to go up there.

Its a bit of ironry that the installer told me all would be the same when he fitted the M Sky and it wasnt till I went to bed later I had no TV.

Seems I need to hunt down a RF modulator to achieve what I need

Cheers

If you have a old VCR it will have a modulator and you should be able to connect AV cables from the MySky to it and then the RF out on the VCR to your bedroom TV. Cheap and nasty but it will at least get a picture to your bedroom until a more elegant solution can be found.

Hi guys, when you had the Hdi installed you should have asked the installer to put a modulator in, they charge $50 for it which is a better price than you will find the same or similar modulator pretty much anywhere. PM me if you want one othewise try a Jaycar LM3878.

Cheers
Cyril

I use a modulator to go from MySky to a flat panel in my bedroom (not a HD panel - too old :( ). Picture is fine. If I was ever allowed to buy an HD panel for the bedroom, I would run cat5 and use HDMI baluns.

A really great way to go is to use the "new" inexpensive HDMI over cat5/6 wall plates on the market.

awesome. How do you send the remote control signal?

I did a similar thing sending sky to the next room (just shoved the HDMI cable though the wall), and bought a remote IR sender from DSE.  It's very tempramental though - have to wave it around a lot pointing in random directions before it works.

I've heard that MySky uses a different frequency (or something) that makes remote sending very difficult.

anyone know?

I sent my IR through wired with sensors attached to the Sky HDi it works a dream everytime without fault. If your running the cable upstairs you may as well do this at the same time.
