Hi all,

A friend has just had sky digital (basic, not my sky hdi box) installed in her house.  They're looking at either changing phone provider, or doing away with the land line altogether as they use mobiles mostly and have good wireless internet coverage where they are.

The sky box was installed and a phone outlet was installed next to the sky box as well.  The question really is, what is that used for?  Is it just the pay for view options, or do SKY call your house to talk to the box for anything else?  (Wouldn't that make your phone ring anyway if they called your house?)

Just not sure if they really need it but want to check it's not going to stuff anything up if/when they lose the land line altogther?

Cheers.

Hi - we have had Sky and now MySky HDi for years and never had te phone line connected. It's just for pay per view, just as you suspected. Everything else works just fine!
