Can anyone tell me why sky sport has the olympic rings under their imprint in the right hand corner, it has been there for a while.

Because they are going to broadcast the 2010 winter games and 2012 olympics.

yeah. prime will also be broadcasting it. http://www.throng.co.nz/olympics-prime-sky/2010-and-2012-olympic-games-to-be-broadcast-on-prime-and-sky it will be the first time it isn't being carried by tvnz according to wikipedia

As part of the contract with the IOC, I think they are required to show the rings for a certain period of time leading up to the games.
