I subscribe to Sky UHF in Christchurch. At present I am staying in Dunedin and I brought my decoder with me hoping to watch the Tour de France. However, all I get is the NO SIGNAL message. I think the aerial should be Ok for UHF. Does the decoder need to be tuned to another frequency? If so, is this straightforward without getting the Sky techs in? I note there is a Channel Adjust set screw on the back of the decoder.
Grateful for any help.

Yes you will have to re tune the uhf box. Not sure what the frequencies are, the screw adjustment is for the box output channel you don't need to touch this. Try ringing sky they may be able to help you retune. Not long now and sky UHF will be gone...

They are starting to shut down the UHF Network, I read Sky is starting with Taupo at the end of this month and progressively work through the regions

Channels used by Sky in Christchurch from Sugarloaf are 30 (Movies), 34 (Sport), 54 (The Box), 58 (Trackside/Discovery). Other UHF channels from Sugarloaf and Marleys Hill are 44 (CTV), 46 (Maori), 52 (Visitor TV), 56 (Shine), 62 (Prime). In Dunedin the channels from Mt Cargill used by Sky are 28,32,52,56.

I have a feeling, but am uncertain, that the channels were programmed via the remote.




Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, UAP, UAP AC Pro, UAP AC Pro Mesh, Apple TV 4, Apple TV 4K, iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone XR, VodaTV Gen 2. If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

you can reprogram the decoder with the remote. Been years since i've done it though, so can't remember what to do.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I gather it is possible to reprogram the decoder with the remote but I did not actually achieve it before returning home to Christchurch! I emailed Sky who eventually replied as follows
"As we have Head End aerials in different regions of the country it is very likely that you will need to retune the decoder. However, as per sky policy we are only permitted to if this address is a holiday home or if you have relocated here.

If either scenario is the case, please give us a call and we can help you tune this over the phone. If not a technician may be required in which we discuss whether a charge will be involved"

So I still don't know the actual procedure but when I go back to Dunedin I may give it another go, perhaps with Sky's help!
