I've been on holiday for 2 weeks - sweet, I have mysky which will continue to record everything while I'm away.

I even used remote record to schedule a couple of things from the internet while I was away.

Got home yesterday, and, box has crashed/frozen while i was away.   I've missed many of my programs......surely sky can build in some auto-reboot for when the stupid thing crashes?

Same thing happened to me in April, went away for a week, the box crashed on the first night... fail! An auto-reboot would be awesome! Surely if they can do an auto energy saving feature they can do an auto reboot.

It might have been something to do with the firmware update of 22 Sept. Were you away then?

Bit annoying that it should happen, after all one of SkyTV's ads showed a family going on holiday and scheduling all of their fav shows to record.

The ad never said it didn't crash when they were on holiday. Wink

When it crash's are you recording a program, and then another 2 programs straight after that one finish's, i.e so that if 5 minutes added at end of first one it's doing three channels at once.

It should be able to work out not to add 5 minutes to first one, when 2 programs straight after but I've seen one crash in this situation, yet do it again on same box at different time and it's fine with it. If one program repeated at different time I try to avoid the 3 channels at once situation.

I don't think so.

On sat night, it crashed about 6 times, usually on playback.

I guess the harddrive might be a bit dodgy.

our box has been running very well since about 9 months ago. I'd get in touch with Sky.

I had my MySkyHDi lockup on Sunday for the first time since I got it 12 months ago. I was using live pause during Bathurst at the time. I had to do a reset using the red button on the STB to revive it. I am well aware of the limitation on recording only 2 programs at a time, and that includes overlaps, and am careful to avoid it. The machine locked up twice, once when 2 programs were recording (same start and finish times) and once when nothing but live pause was used. Hasn't missed a beat since those instances.
So my question is;
If you are recording 2 channels and you use live pause on a third, are you in effect asking the MySkyHDi to record 3 channels?

In effect - any channel you are watching is being recorded to the harddrive irregardless of if its set to record in the planner. So the answer to your question is yes BUT if you are recording 2 channels and watching a third you are in effect already recording 3 channels.

Case in point. When you are watching a channel, miss something and rewind using the mysky, you might not be recording the show that you are watching in the planner, but it records it so you can rewind to see what you miss. The pause function follows the same principle - the recording continues while the screen stays fixed to the point of pausing.

If i remember correctly MySkyHDi records two hours of footage in this way, although if you change the channel it clears itself and starts again. A number of times I have come home found something on the channel the MySky was left to and I rewound to the beginning to watch it.

Does this effect the MySkyHDi box - from my experience, no. If its recording two channels and your watching a third the response time of the box is a bit slow but not too bad.
