Does anyone know what error code 40 is. Done google search and can't find it.

Last two nights silver one has failed with this code first recording then with code 21 no signal for recordings after. It was on standby and only had 1 progam set to record at a time. Three programs failed last night.

Black HDi plugged into same dish no problems.

Also noticed silver one recieved update just after 2 this morning, I was up and noticed it was online for over 5 minutes, long time just to say got update ok, programs were all set to record before midnight so update shouldn't have affected recordings.

Hopefully update did more then add power saving mode, but if recordings keep failing will ring sky, just curious if error 40 meaning known? Also hard drive space free was 36%.

Sorry, error code 40 translates to "failed, reason unknown" at the programmer level, i.e. not even the coders know why it happened. The PVR might have lost touch with its second tuner, so a reboot would be a good first step. Error 21 backs this up.

The A161 update that just went out for the MySKY1 (silver SD version) has:

a fix for the 'updating listings' bug (decoder would lose all its EPG data until rebooted)

GPM (green power management) to spin down the HDD - defaults to 'off'

support for audience measurement (with subscriber's permission)

a fix for a PPP bug that caused inability to dial in to services like SKYbet after 1-200 connections

reboot to 'last good channel'
