I sent a question to UKTV and this was my response:

I’m afraid there are no plans to launch UKTV HD in New Zealand in the immediate future. For information and queries about impending channel launches, please contact SKY – their website is www.skytv.co.nz.

and you'd expect any less from Sky? I'm not surprised at all. While Foxtel are moving ahead, Sky are stagnant and seem to be making zero investment in more channels (that aren't filled with repeats) or decent programming, especially of the HD kind.

Probably doesn't help that nobody is pushing Sky either. The threat of Freeview and more channels (One HD especially) seems to have given Foxtel a kick. Also suppose it helps D3 has been launched.
