I wanted to know how i can set it to auto record american idol,fringe,24(17th jan),daily show john stewart, because i looked through the tv guide on the sky website and nothing about them was there
note all the shows i mentioned have already started and are airing on fox in america.

Your MySky can automatically record TV shows on the FTA (free to air) channels as well, you just need to open the guide on your remote, browse to an instance of the program and hit record. Then, go back to the recorded program list and push the green button to have it record all instances of it (series link).

Regardless, you cannot set a Sky decoder to record a program that is not in the guide - if it isn't airing in NZ, you're out of luck. It needs to be able to see an instance of the program to record it.

We don't have Fox here in New Zealand. Sky carry Fox News, this is not the same channel.

No.

Fox is not available in New Zealand. It's a US channel for the US market.

Your best (er, only) bet is to contact Sky (I believe you can do this via their website) and express your interest in that channel. There's no guarantee they will get it, but if they don't know people want it then they won't even consider it.

There are ways to get American TV programs legally via iTunes ($3 US per episode), but I won't detail the process as it likely goes against the spirit of Geekzone's FUG since it requires breaking Apple's TOS.

Good in theory, but not in practice. We're in NZ :)
