MySky HDI box suddenly froze today - normally pressing the red reset button fixes things, but once it has rebooted and powers on, it does not load sky.  The red power light is on - but nothing.

For the last couple of months I have been having problems with it - where I would be watching a recorded programme and then all of a sudden it will pause for a few seconds, then play fast with voices sounding like chipmunks and the screen flicking funny until it sorts it self out and plays normally.

We've had this box for a year and a half now.

It has good ventalation, as it has been propped up on wood so air flows under it and above it.  But the box did feel a little hot. So I have unplugged it and letting it cool.

I am hoping this will work * cross fingers *.  But I am wondering if any other users are having the same or similar problems.

Sometimes we record stuff and through the entire movie it will pause for 3 seconds then catch up. It does this every few minutes. Very annoying. I have found after a reboot sometimes it will take up to 10 minutes before something appears on the screen. Once I was on the phone to sky and up it popped. It was after a bit meltdown as well. Make sure you leave it for a while after turning on. Cheers, Matt.

Thanks for your reply. At least I am not alone in having a few issues.

It's been off for the couple of hours. My daughter was really upset as we were in the middle of watching the first episode of America's Next Top Model from the other week..lol

I'll plug it back in and let it boot up - and see how long, if at all, it takes.

I'll probably be in a little meltdown myself in a bit. lol

Is your MySky one without any ventilation holes in it? Mine is a box without vent holes and it was starting to fault like yours, and like yours has adequate ventilation. The box itself got quite hot but I found that by setting the energy saving options so that the HDD isn't spinning 24/7 the box doesn't get as hot and (so far, fingers crossed) hasn't faulted since.

Hi Dingbatt...

Mine has Vents on the top. I manged to get it going. But cannot get into my planner - it comes up with a system fault. So rang sky and they are sending a tech out on Monday.

So will have to use the dvd recorder to tape programmes till then.

God knows what's happened to my recordings. But managed to watch first episode of ANTM on CastTV online streaming. And i forget what else I had stored. Will have to go over the TV guide as lots of programmes came back last week lol.

If they can't fix the box you have, the recordings are gone. They aren't transferrable.

Dingbatt, are you sure that's an HDi you have? I didn't realise there were any models without vents (because they run REALLY hot! I've got a Bic tray suspending my Xbox 360 above it just because if it sits directly on top I can imagine there being some catching fire going on!)
