Hi, I am trying to take my sky decoder to another property to watch the world cup this year.

The place I'm taking it to has an old sharp single lnb (LO 11.3Ghz). I've tried changing the settings on the decoder to

LNB power supply - on
LO switching -  none
LO frequency 11300

amongst other combinations, but still get rainfaid signal (and no signal shows on strength/signal screen). I've also tried both D1-nz13L and D1-t5l satellites.

I've also tried an older skybox that claimed to have signal but I couldn't see picture or settings as the card was outdated (had in-built card).

The dish its self appears to be slightly obstructed on one side with a drainage pipe running down infront of it, which would have always been there.

My question is should I be able to tune the DS230NNZ decoder to this lnb? Or should I replace the lnb with a newer model and if so which would you recommend?

Thanks,
Dave

Are you sure you are connected to the correct wall socket? My in-laws rented a home where the UHF antenna was also wired with an F-connector socket because it is much better quality than the traditional aerial sockets. It was also wired so the aerials go to the living room to your set top box and then you must plug the RF output from the set top box back into the wall socket and then it distributes to other sockets in the home. In order to get TV in the bedroom with nothing in the living room we had to fit a link cable between two sockets.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Thanks for the replies.

Cyril, I followed those instructions (and when I go back through the lnb setup those settings are sellected) and am still getting the rainfade signal with absolutely nothing showing on the signal/quality screen. I should add that when I plug the unit back in it takes a whole minute before displaying anything on the tv.

Neil, I'm pretty sure, there's only two cables coming into the house, one is the classic white sky cable and the other is a regular tv cable we watch television from.

You guys think there could be a problem with the lnb or decoder or still just a setting issue?

Cheers

Probably a dead LNB, the Sharps of all generations are pretty good reliability wise, but the older ones are getting on now, so dont be surprised if its fooked.

OK thanks, will try replacing with a new one.

A mate has a satellite finder so should be able to set it up properly.

Are you able to give any recommendations on which one to buy?

Saw one here

http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/noise-dual-output-10750mhz-band-pri-40.html?reviews_id=159

but find it a bit suspect that I can't find it anywhere else on the net or find a data sheet for it.
Not even sure if it would fit in the bracket!

Cheers

Hi, that LNB is a dual output, all you need is a cheaper single output for a standard box, if you want more (ie 156E support on multiple tuners) then you will need to get the real Sky supplied unit.

All you need is the basic flat body unit on the same web site, or the MTI unit, but if you get a 10750LO unit it will save having to play with things when moving from home to the batch.

And yes all these LNBs and the old Sharp 11300 unit you have use a 40mm collar, so all will fit in the same mount.

Hey I purchased the MTI unit and installed it myself (didn't have a satellite finder though).

Then set up the sky box to the 10750 settings as on the document above - But still getting nothing showing on the strength/quality screen.

Would those be the correct settings to use for the lnb I purchased?

I know the unit itself is good so can only assume its the dish direction, cable or settings. Any ideas on what to check next?

Cheers

Sounds like a bad cable or alignment, the latter most likely, sorry cannot be more helpful than that.
