Hi,

Regular reader/first time poster.

I'm thinking of buying an AV Sender like one of the following:

I have MySky on the ground floor about 15 metres (as the crow flies) and 2-3 wooden walls + 1 wooden floor from the bedroom TV on the 2nd floor.

Has anyone had any experience with AV Senders over this distance and through these mediums ? I do have wifi and wireless phones in the house so I accept I'll have to work around those but my main concern is the walls.

I'd really appreciate any experiences :)

Cheers

The following is a quote from a post I put on a thread similar to this a few weeks ago:

"We have My Sky HDi in one room and I use an 'Ellies' brand AV sender/extender to broadcast the Sky signal to three other TV's in different parts of the house and it works perfectly. Each of the other TVs has an Ellies receiver and will transmit all of the Sky remote's signals back to the decoder box for changing channel, recording etc.

The microwave does interfere with the signal to the TV in the kitchen but that's not a biggie. If my wife is using her wireless netbook in the kitchen we sometimes notice minor interference but that's no big deal either. Overall it's a great set-up and not really expensive to set up. Needed three extra Sky remotes but the installer guy who came to set up the My Sky box had some spares and sold them to me for $10 each for cash 'out the back of his van'. "

See this thread:

The DSE units you are looking at look very similar (physically and in specs) to the Ellies units. I would not be surprised if Ellies made them for DSE. My furtherest receiver would be at least 15 metres away from the sender and is on a different level in our house - works brilliantly.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

The 2.4GHz model will be fine even though it is similar frequency to WiFi. Just select a different channel if it is a problem. We use a number of the 5.8GHz models at our church for 2 video feeds to the mother's room and it is a disaster. We selected it so it does not interfere with WiFi, but they are so sensitive to surroundings that it is really hard to setup and get right. Audio fails first and makes a lot of noise. Could live with snow, but not noise. The higher frequency does not travel as well in a building as the lower frequency. Perhaps open space, but not inside. Every wall between the 2 units approximately halves your range.
