A new box, similar to a dreambox is out, called a vu-duo.  Its a twin tuner PVR, can take any size hard drive upto 2TB and also supports a mysky smartcard to watch/record sky channels including HD.  I bought one from the UK and its by far better than the mysky box I have.  Can also download recordings from it over the LAN to my pc and play them using vlc player.  If you're sick of the lack of space on a mysky box then get one of these.

[Moderator edit (MF): DISCLOSURE Later in this thread this user says he's now a New Zealand reseller]

Windowsw xp, but it doesnt really matter what os you use.  If you have vlc player installed then you can playback the recorded TS files, the HD recordings are very clear on a computer lcd monitor.  The vuduo also has a built in file server so you can map its hard drive to your windows machine as a drive letter.  I sometimes use my vuduo as extra storage when my pc's hard drive runs low on space.

Satlink is the dealer for these units, I am also one of the resellers if anyone is looking to buy one, just waiting on first shipment to come in, they will be on trademe and on a website im making final adjustments to.

Bought mine for just under $1k NZ, after conversion and including shipping from the UK. Satlink NZ has a bulk lot on the way, should be here by 28th July from what ive heard, I am also one of their authorised resellers. Also got website up now www.satgear.co.nz. or can pm me and will advise once we get them in.

Stock will be limited because they are quite popular and I already have quite a few pre orders from people on other forums.

And that is the whole idea. It's a joke - telling you how easy it is to search for something if you want.

So if one brought this, they would be still paying $25 (standard decoder costs) + $15 decoder upgrade each month, as the MySky decoder card is different to the standard one. Ours was swapped when we upgraded.
