Next up ESPN in 16:9. Geeeez Sky with their impressive new ultra modern 16:9 formats. You Never know, they may even be HD in 10 years!!

In all honesty though I still love the Sky HD sports channels

I love that they stopped doing "Available in HD keys"

My living channel is massively letterboxed now...
(except the inbetween shows stuff)

Anybody else with this problem?

Cheers,

Yes, many Living programmes now have a black border all round. It is like watching SD on an HD TV without upscaling. They are probably working through the changes required. FYI, I've got a small silver STB.

Well I hope they sort it out, and dont intend to leave it that way!

Not sure why they would letterbox 16:9 content to broadcast 16:9.
Surely it would be an additional step!

I think (hope) this is a transition thing (it has been for other channels, ie: E! etc), they were doing it before moving to 16:9 so I hope it is just a backlog of the programming they have loaded.

If Pjamieson is correct, and considering how many times a programme is repeated, these small frames might be around for a long, long time...

I notice on ESPN's coverage of World Series of Poker that it isn't 4:3 safe, so the hands that the players have is being chopped off. Yay for crud 4:3 ESPN

Yes MTV is now 16:9. It used to be 4:3 letterbox.

Looking at the living/food channel footage, I presume that historic stuff thats been pushed into the server in the old crazy fatso vision cannot be fixed and I presume the source tapes have been long returned to sender. Therefore I assume they can playout whats on there in a heavily letterboxed format.

If you note there is smaller top/bottom borders to side boarders, which is why it used to look fatsovision, and obviously indicates whoever was at the wheel previously had no idea.

At least moving forward its correctly 16:9, I have noted a number of programs with obviously newer material are correctly 16:9.

Yes 100% sure it's 16:9...watched some mindless reality show in widescreen over the weekend.
