Some problems recently developed with my sky HDI.
Playback freezing or delayed when jumping fast forward.
Someone else experienced this recently?
Is this related to "software update".
Reported to Sky Help but no reaction within 24 hrs.

Hi Peter,
We have had the HDi since day 1. We have had this problem as well. It seems to me to occur when the box gets full and after using it non-stop for around a month. It freezes about once a minute for a second during playback and doesn't preview when fast forwarding or rewinding.

A standard reset sometimes fixes it. A full reset fixes the problem for a month. I think we had a dodgy box though as everytime we reset it, it would take around 15 minutes to restart.

We finally had enough and got a new box last week which has been going great guns.

I don't think it is related to the update.

Cheers, Matt

Our box seems to struggle when ffd / rwd during a recording in progress - we get the no preview (makes it hard to guess) and sometimes it takes a while for the fd / rwd to actually start.

This can also happen to new boxes sometimes a new box will fix the problem and sometimes it will not. i use to find that changing the box and the card will fix problem.

Playback problems (to me) are usually a sign of hard disk drive problems. The MySKY is set up to work as a 'zapper' box if the HDD dies, but, if the HDD is alive but struggling, you might get poor playback and possibly reboots as it gives up on getting its data stream. A new box (and HDD) is usually the best fix for the problem (as per hairy1). Taking a long time to start up is probably related to the software auditing and trying to fix the data on the HDD.

Bottom line is you should probably watch all your recordings and call SKY, and they'll probably book a tech to swap your box.
