Has anyone else noticed that the fast forward speeds (6x 12x 30x) seem to have gotten a lot faster on programmes recorded after the time that TVNZ changed their Freeview broadcasts from 720p to 1080i?

It was my mother of all people who first noticed it, because when she put it to 30 as she normally does to skip through ads she found they were over almost instantaneously!

Yet when we turn to a programme that was recorded prior to TVNZ changing to 1080i they still fast forward at the older, slower rate...

Had it randomly happen to me for a couple months. Always put it down to the MySky CPU usage. When it wasn?t recording it could fast forward / rewind much quicker.

I will have to look out if it is just TVNZ programmes next time.

My suspicion is that if it's related to TVNZ's change from 720p to 1080i then each frame equals twice the length of time. Hence when it skips x(30) 'new frames' it progresses twice the period of time as when it skipped x(30) 'old frames'

the x30 seems to be twice as fast now on all channels, the time left on a program used to drop in 1 minute intervals , now it drops 2 minutes for the same amount of time.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I just confirmed that TV1 and TV2 are broadcasting on Sky in 1080i by setting the HD settings on my MySky HDi to passthrough and my TV indicated that the resolution is 1080i.
