Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if I book a Pay per view film on the sky website I assume it doesn't matter that I don't have a phone line plugged in to my Sky box? My mate is convinced you do, but surely that's just for package upgrades etc..

I think it sends the entitlements for the PPV over satellite (the same way it does with remote record)

If you book it on the web, I don't think you'd need phone line plugged in for the above reason. I understand the phone line is a return path (ie data from your box back to Sky)

Correct - not required, if you phone up they send the info required from the sattelite, like the above poster stated its a return path, and not essential unless you want the full functionalities of the box!
