Hey team

Having an issue with MySky HDi where the signal on the HDMI port is intermittently dropping out, and seems to actually cause the box to "reset".

I have just had a box swap done last week, as the previous box was "freezing all the time" - ie the picture would freeze, and I had to do a physical box reset using the magic red button.

So the issue of HDMI dropout is happening on the new box. I am pretty certain it is just an HDMI issue, as I also have a RF Modulator to send signals via coax to other TV's and is I set the main TV on the RF feed, it will go for hours on end, and not drop out.  But set the TV on HDMI input, and the box drops out after random time periods, and will come back to life a few minutes later (it shows the "please wait, updating listings" message when the feed comes back).  The annoying things is every drop out will cause any programme that is being recorded to fail...

The only other factor to take into account is the Sky box sits in a media cupboard, and the HDMI signal is sent to the "main TV" via a HDMI sender (over 2 CAT-5 cables).  I have had this setup running for over a year now with no drop out issues. It only seems to be occurring on the new box (versus the last box which suddenly started freezing)

So, do you think I have been given a dud box, and should just get on the blower for another swap?
Or is there something else going on?
Anyone experienced issues like this before?

Have you tried turning off the HDCP warnings in the system settings on the mysky?

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I have noted that my MySkyHDi has been dropping the hdmi picture link lately but was unsure whether it was due to a new Receiver in the system. Has there been a firmware update recently? The dropped link has not caused the box to reset (updating listings etc), the last time I got those sort of messages and behaviour was just before the previous MySky's harddrive failed.

The rf modulator isn't sitting on top of the mysky box?
They run veryhot and if any airvents are blocked they'll freeze.
I had one do the same 18 months ago after sky installed a modulator, the tech put it onto of the box.
They replaced the mysky unit and I put the modulator off to one side and no problems after that .

We're onto our 3rd mysky box in a week - the last 2 have had constant dropouts then would lock up and not respond to the remote etc.

The tech said they had a bad batch of decoders that were causing problems.

Hey guys

Thanks for all the responses.

No, it's not a Samsung telly (cheapy LG 42" Plasma).
Yes the Modulator WAS on top of the unit, but is not any more.

I elevated the unit slightly on some wooden blocks to improve airflow, as I agree the comments that they do run quite hot!

I also checked all the connections, and since Friday evening when I did all the adjustments, no drop outs have occurred.

So touch wood, the issue has been sorted.

Hope the rest of you with issues have luck too!

As far as heat goes, I have found activating the powersaving options means the harddrive is not spinning 24/7 and constantly producing heat.
