Apparently MySky HDi uses a different type of IR signalling for it's remote (or something like that), so while my harmony remote works fine with it, most IR remote extenders don't work.

If I wanted to have the mySky box hidden, what creative solutions would people come up with to be able to use my harmony remote with it, while not retaining line of sight?

I have a couple of ideas but would like to see what others come up with- or to know if there are any specific remote control extenders that work with the current (Nov 2010) MySky HDi box.

Note, I have seen this - http://www.blue-eye.co.nz/ - but was hoping for something a little cheaper

Cheers - Neil G

I have my mysky box hidden in the room behind the wall where my TV is mounted. I have a crummy DSE remote extender that shouldn't work, but weirdly if I hold the remote in just the right place the signal still gets to the box somehow.

If you're not afraid of building kits , I use this one from Jaycar and it works fine with mySky.

The IR transmitter is hardwired , so you'll need to string a cable between rooms. I send mine over cat5 ( along with S-video and audio   ) between the bedroom and lounge. The transmitter LED  rests under the sky box ,pointing at the cabinet glass, and uses the  glass to reflect the signal back at the mysky IR receiver.  I find the transmitter range is poor ,so this setup works well.

Been using this kit since I got mySky a few years ago, no problems.

We use a NextGen RF extender and it works flawlessly.

I have one of these:

Works perfectly well from bedroom to MySky (through 2 walls, about 10m)

It's not particularly elegant, but you can hide the receiver (at the MySky end) as it comes with a little 'mouse' thing that I just put directly underneath the MySky IR windows.
