This problem can get quite annoying and I wonder if anyone else has noticed it and if there is a fix?

We normally start watching a programme while it is still recording.

IE.  We record The Mentalist and start watching it around half n hour later so we can fast forward ads.

The problem we notice, is that when the recording finishes at the end of the programme, while we are still in playback, it will pop up with "End of Recorded Programme" - although we still have about 5-10 minutes left of viewing time.  Normally there is another programme that starts recording after the Mentalist.

We then have to go back into the planner, select the end of the program and rewind it to where it stopped to continue watching the end of the programme.

Can be quite disruptive to our viewing pleasure.

We do the same thing at home and I've never seen this message pop up? Might try to re-create it later today.

We get this issue sometimes too so you're not alone, think it's to do with the fact you have another program following on straight after being recorded.

The system ought to be clever enough to recognise that you've got 2 concurrent programs set to record and then just bundle them into one recording otherwise you sometimes get clashes whilst it records the end of show 1 on one recording as well as recording it again at the beginning of show 2

Yey I am not alone.  I guess it happens to us tv addicts that record like crazy. LOL

I have not noticed this.

It behaves as expected, and if live recording finishes while you are in playback, playback continues until the end of the recording without interruption.

Although, if you catch up to the 'live' program , then, it will jerk and shudder a bit while it switches from the 'playback' to live view.

This isn't live recording.  It is series link recording.

Although we have had this issue in the past with live recording too, which is why we decided to make sure we series linked all our programmes and watched them from the planner.

We have those same programmes  you mentioned series linked but we just don't see what you describe. I wonder if there are some updates you or I are missing, or if it is different hardware/software? Or maybe is a fault with some units?

This is a bug in the current software, so there's no workaround. I believe it is due to be fixed in the next software release, though I don't know when that will be. What happens is that the underlying PVR software incorrectly signals that you have hit the end of the recording when you are watching a programme that is slightly delayed by being recorded or being live paused. It doesn't happen every time but it happens often enough to be annoying.

Oh Thanks Mania.  At least it seems Sky is aware of the issue and are looking at fixing it in a future software realease.

Crosses fingers it is soon :-)

Same or similar issue has been around for a while (2008). How often do firmware updates occur?
