Hey Everyone

I want to use my new Apple Mac 27' as a tv but I'm having some problems . I have a HDMI cable coming out the back of the my sky unit and into a Kanex XD signal converter which converts the signal into a mini display port cable. I have tried everything I can think of doing to try and get the display on the mac (new cables, new Kanex XD box and changing the settings plus more. Not sure if anyone else has got one of these working or knows any other ways of doing it, but If you have any ideas I would be very grateful for the help.

Cheers Smile

Hi. Can you clarify if it is just an Apple Mac Monitor or are you trying to input straight to an iMac which I don't think you can do?

You can use the 2010 iMacs as external displays.

I'm not sure how it goes about detecting it however. Never done it myself.

Looks like there is a "Target Display Mode".

Thanks but I have tried that already too .. I also have had the local Magnum Mac man in to check it out, We had got sound working a few times but no picture. We have been at it for the last few days non stop and can't find how it works. Although, The very first time I set the connections up it worked but then next time I tried it wouldn't work.

Cheers

I would guess the Mac is not HDCP compatabile through Display Port so the Sky decoder is refusing to talk.
