Hi,

Checking here first as a problem with the decoder. Might be the TV, but need to eliminate possible causes.

At my sisters who has MySky HDi connected to a Samsung LCD (not sure which model/series - can check) via HDMI. Decoder is in ventilated cabinet with nothing on top or at the sides to prevent air flow.

Picture is normal for a second, then colours go strange (bright greens/pinks) for a second then 'snowy' for a second and repeats. This has happened for the last day or so.

So far I have plugged the HDMI cable into the 2nd HDMI port on the TV thinking that the 1st HDMI might be at fault. Lasted for most of the day before the same error. So now switched to the 3rd HDMI port to see how it goes...

Does anyone think its a problem with the decoder or the HDMI sockets? She doesn't have any other cables (HDMI or component cables to try with - could it be the HDMI cable...?)

Appreciate any comments. Thanks

www.cablesdirect.co.nz has very cheap HDMI Cables - I bought new ones from there for between $12 and $15.

Ship bloody quickly too.

(I am in no way affiliated with them, just a happy customer that got sick of being ripped off buying HDMI cables from the big names).

4 for $30.

Once again not saying they are great, but they are cheap!
Also I'm not connected to them in anyway either.

I have to qualify this by saying that I'm no electronics expert, but I have connected a lot of audio/video components in my lifetime.

What interested me was that when you changed the HDMI cable to a different input on the TV it worked for a while before the symptom reappeared. This leads me to think it's not the decoder and probably not the cable, or I would have thought you'd get the same thing happenning straight away.

I have heard of other colour faults on Samsung LCD TVs. There seems to be quite a common one where pink shows where bright/white should be. My best guess is that it will turn out to be the TV.
