So i signed up for Sky around 26th of Jan. As part of the promotion i received the boxing event free. Watch like half of it and got bored. Was trying to book UFC today and noticed my owing balance was $43 (Was previously $13 a few days ago).

Called up sky and they finally figured i had been charged for the fight and there is nothing they can do about it.

Surely this is illegal?

Maybe the phone operators don't have the power to refund things like this. Just ask to speak to a manager

When i asked why she couldn't credit it she simply said its not possible and there is nothing that can be done.

Ill try call back and get ahold of a manager.  Seems to be everytime the call doesnt connect or something and i have to re-dial for it to start ringing. Sort of like its engaged or something.

well I don't not alot about sky but what I do know is that false advertising isn't Legal in New Zealand and im pretty sure you can take this matter to court. But it shouldn't need to go that far you should try and get in contact with management or head office often enough this will get a result. What ever you do don't back down fight for your rights.

Contact them. If the offer included the free event, then you have to get it, otherwise it'd be false advertising.

They have to put it right.

It could be that the credit shows up next month. I know funny things like that happened to me in the past.

Still, the CSR should know and clearly tell the customer what, how and when.

No excuses there.

If it was the SBW fight they should credit everybody who paid for it.

I think Kiwitrc meant no one should have paid for it ;-).

You can get credited, but I think once invoiced it can not be removed but instead will be a credit for the next account. When I got Sky installed I signed up on-line. Unselected the tick box to get Sky Watch. Installer left a magazine which I assumed was complimentary, it was partway into the month, but then noticed I got charged for it as well as for the following month. E-mailed them with a complaint and they said just don't pay the magazine part of it and they'll credit my account.

Phone them in the morning or e-mail.

Do you have a copy of your install form as left by the installer? It should include details of what packages you signed up for and what promotions were active on the account.

Interesting, every install I've had from Sky has been via a promotion of one sort or another and the promotion details were always listed on the install form (eg. Free Multiroom for 6 months, 6 free pay per view movies etc).

It might be that the install was booked without the promo stuff and the customer service rep thought you wanted to add the free stuff after the fact (as you you forgot to mention the promo at time of booking so did not get it). In that case the rep will not credit you after the fact.

I'm not saying that you forgot to ask for it, just saying what the person might have though when you phoned asking where is your free stuff.
