Odd one and can't find anything googling so maybe someone here can help.

Noticed that two programs on planner that we recorded the other night - CSI and Castle won't play. Both let you highlight them and you can choose the start point as well but pressing select does absolutely nothing??!!

Everything else on planner works fine,.

Any clues..My wife is convinced we can fix this without having to delete them from the playlist.

Cheers

Ged

Yeah i've had that problem, I tried restarting the box but after that it said the programs had failed.

Have you had problems with recordings skipping for a few seconds while watching them?

Mine was doing that as well so I ended up having it replaced a few weeks ago and so far had no probs with the new one.

Yep..Had that problem as well over last few days as well - programs would freeze/pixellate for a second then skip 4 or 5 secs and play normally..

Also had some recordings fail for no reason..

May sound like a daft question but given I live in the Church and its been the last 3 or 4 days we've noticed this could the quake have shaken the box and damaged the HD?

Thx again.

Will speak to Sky

Sounds to me like a failing hard drive. If MySky is anything like HDD recorders then they would keep the drive spinning all the time you have the power on which wears out the disk.

Actually they must keep it spinning as it records on-demand content which few people use.

Your sure they havent Clashed?

Clashed programs appear but dont play. All you can do is delete them.

Doesn't the box stop you clashing ? i.e the screen pops up and says you have to cancel a planned recording in order to start another..

But from experience, they weren't clashes..Some standalone discovery channel stuff at 2 in the morning isnt playing either.

Sky had me trying every reset today before I gave up, refused to try for a 5th time and asked her to send a tech to replace the box.

Will update you if it fixes

just remember both those programs are available on the respective "on demand" channels on line, so at least you can still see them

I thought it was just me, have had two Travel Channel shows locked up so just ended up deleting them. At least they were on again so no real loss. :)

Sky tech came out. Changed the box. Said the HD was munted most likely through shaking of the quake. He'd already been to a few others. All good now thanks again

Hi, just a note, I recently engaged the power save mode on our HDi as I noted it was running pretty hot and obvioulsy with the HDD running 24/7. Since I have engaged the basic saving mode the boxs heat seems to have significantly dropped and I hope/expect the HDD life to extend significantly.

Obviously there are some down sides being, the box goes into standby (and spools the disc down) after the preprogrammed time (power save mode dependant), meaning you cannot say leave it on TV1 and walk in at 6:20 pull it out of standby and expect to spool back 20 odd minutes to see the start of the news, ie while in standby the 60min buffer will not work, and secoundly if you turn the TV on in the bedroom in the morning to catch a non FTA channel from the Sky box in the lounge it will be sleeping.

The econo modes do not effect programmed recordings or series links, ie it will still pull itself out of standby to record scheduled recordings.

Cheers
Cyril
