Hi, I recently got cheap TV, I intend to run the signal via RF cable, to another bedroom. However, the TV is a PAL I Unit. I know for a fact, that the sky satellite decoders we use in NZ,are used in other countries where different sound carrier systems are used.

Is there a hidden menu to change that somewhere?

Thanks

Hi, no the firmware in the Sky boxs sets the modulators to B/G (5.5MHz) by default and there is no menu option or other means of adjusting that, you might be better off buying an external modulator or maybe a new TV.

Few of the low cost products (like Sky STB) have modulators (and demodulators) where you can electronically set the audio carrier. By far most are fixed with a resonator. This is because 1) the AM carrier does not need digital accuracy and 2) there are already so many market specific items like power cords etc. that the different modulator does not matter and 3) it is much easier/cheaper to get the product through EMC and EMI testing if it is a fixed-setting pre-approved module.
