Hi there,

We have a relly coming to stay with us for a month or so soon to recover from an op and he wants to bring his Sky decoder so he can watch his sport, etc in his room.  I've got a feed from the dish going in there for him.  Do I need to run a phone line too?  Or is that just used for the pay movies, which he doesn't use at all.  It's just the standard digital STB.

Thanks,

Nick

You only need a phone line to book sky box office ect. We don't use a phone line and it's fine.

Booking over the phone is a lengthy process only until you understand how the booking codes work, then you don't have to wait for the voice prompts. There is absolutely no need to have the box connected to a phone line.

At the install the installer may ask you to sign a declaration that you accept not having a phone line and what that intails (as mentioned in posts above), end result is no you dont need a phone line if you dont want it to have Sky.

Or just say you use VoIP phones, you don't have a phone line.
