We have been gifted a 6 month old Panasonic TV, thanks to my father upgrading to a better and bigger one. So, it was tuned to Sky and all the rest of it, in Gisborne, but now that we have lugged it all the way to Auckland, we are having trouble.
At first, we plugged it in exactly as our old one, got a message - No channels, detected. press OK to Tune. Which we did, but still no luck. Then, we plugged aerial straight into the TV, by-passing the Skybox. The TV tuned perfectly to all channels, including FreeView (it has a built-in decoder). Back again, to the Skybox, and  still no luck. Phoned Sky, they want to send a technician for $40, to tune it, but I am reluctant as I the tech that came out for the original install was less than satisfactory.
Any help would be appreciated - (we have "old" Sky, not MySKy and we can't locate the User manual for the TV)>

You should have the Sky box connected to the TV using component or a composite video cable plugged into an AV input. Tuning it in using the RF aerial cable delivers the worst possible picture and is not recommended.

I suspect your Panasonic TV has a button to switch between analogue and digital tuners, you would need to do this to be able to tune in the Sky signal on RF.

Thank you. We are finally up and running, using our old cable. We will get the correct cables tomorrow, but for now at least we can see Ireland beat Italy this afternoon on our bigger TV and without having to shell out the $40 Sky charge. Thanks for your super speedy help.
