I have a 2nd decoder for my flat mate to use but when i was in between flat mates for 6 weeks, i left the sky decoder unplugged. When i went to use it again it brings up a CA:10 error message, and says my decoder may have been left off for some time. I will get them to come out and fix it, but that will take a few days and i would really like to use the decoder asap. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? thanks :)

All i can recommend is press reset button where the skycard goes.

I'm sure if you just leave it on for a while (time frame unknown) it should fix itself. If it doesn't Sky should be able to broadcast your entitlements again remotely with a quick 5 min call to them. No need to get someone to come and "fix it".

Have you already spoken to Sky about it? My understanding is that they do this as a security measure, you can try leaving the card in the box overnight, and see if it is working again in the morning. I have seen them take a few hours before they function again, after being unplugged for some time.

Your card would have missed receiving the EMM updates because it was turned off. There is nothing you can do except leave the card in and wait until it updates.

The 2nd decoder was setup for use in my bedroom, but the flatmate is in a little self contained unit of his own, it already had a sky dish and i have used the decoder successfully in there before, but i have not plugged the phone line plug thing in. will it update without this phone plug thingy being in, or should i go and plug it back in my room with the phone plug?

The Phone line doesn't make any difference. The updates are send via the satellite signal.

The encryption is a rolling one, if you miss the next key change you are locked out, call Sky and they will push a key out to you, its a very common situation, business as usual.

usually every 2 - 3 months a new emm key change is rolled out, got my card running in a Vu+Duo on oscam, I can see when they roll out a new key as the card entitlement expiry dates move forward by about 2 - 3 months.  Whats more if you wait for a new key change to be rolled out, then block emm's through the options in oscam, you can then theoretically unsubscribe from your channel packages but still have access to those channels right up until the expiry dates on the card entitlements.
