Not holding my breath for this, but please Sky, can you take note of what Dish and Direct TV are doing.

DishTV announced their new set top box that works as a recorder for the whole house, catching them up with Direct TV. Its not like it's even new technology!

There was a bit of talk about the mysky hdi box having the ability to do this but it is not enabled in the box. I think Cyril mentioned something about it years ago. I agree. It would be O for Orsome.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Having this ability would be the only reason I'd go back to sky. I currently have it with my home built PVR for freeview channels. For sky this would be quite good.

Surely there are heaps of features the HDI box can do which are disabled. USB ports disabled could be used for external HD/flashdisks? Having the feature to broadcast to around the home would eliminate Multiroom. Also Esata & Ethernet ports disabled can be used in a range of things. I''ve also heard that the HDI box could bypass adverts in recordings. I'm sure there are other features not heard of.
A nice feature would be picture in picture showing 2 channels. If they can do it for skysport mosaic its got to be possible.

But thats no revenue for SKY so why would they do that?

Yep Pace and NDS demonstrated this technology on basically the idential hardware as the current MySky HDi about 6yrs ago (acutally as I recall it was the very same hardware with 1 disc'd master and several disckless clients connected via ethernet), so nothing new here just the fact that obviously the US market has reached a price point that makes it economic to do.

Cheers
Cyril
