Hi guys, long story here. I got a dreambox set up in the other room for Standard Sky. Our Mysky HDI box wasn't effected, apart from me testing the card from the HDI Box in the Dreambox. (I did nothing illegal, so I have nothing to hide) to try to get it to work. Anyway, since then I have been unable to get Channel One, and whenever I hit record I get a message saying "Recording features unavailable, please contact your service provider" or something along that line. I contacted Sky, I assumed the Dreambox had fried the HDI smartcard from when I was testing it. They sent out a replacement card, which turned out to be a standard card issue, not a mysky one so they couldn't get it to work, so they sent it back. Day later. (Today) new one arrived. Called them to activate it which they did within minutes, to my horror I found out that I still couldn't get TV one, or record. Sky walked me through the "Standard checklist". In the end, I thought I'd see if I can have a crack it myself. Anyway, a full reset later and a "New setup" later, we are wiped of all our recordings and we are still unable to get Channel One, or record. I don't really want to contact Sky again, because I know they will send a sparkie over unless I have to becuase they will see the Dreambox and think I'm a pay pirate or something. Also, if it's worth mentioning that if I put in the card for the standard box it plays back and records, and gets Channel one perfectly. Have a got the wrong card maybe? The one they sent me, has the red mark under the Sky Logo, that apparantly is for the Mysky box. and the one without is for my standard decoder/dreambox. I'm unwilling to keep the standard card in the Mysky, because that one is the only one that works for the Dreambox, whereas the one with the red strip doesn't work for some reason.
I cant see why TV1 will not work on your mysky card but works on your other card, I would keep bothering sky about it until they sort it, and if the worst comes to the worst you can always hide the dreambox away, but I dont think they will care, dreamboxes are not illegal to have, people in caravans/motorhomes use them because they run on 12v.
All cards for caid 096A (mysky and small silver pace boxes) are capable of working in dreamboxes, regardless of red stripe or not. However the newer cards do have a lot of trouble working unless the dreambox is configured correctly and card voltage is correct. The newer cards are very sensitive to the slightest increase in voltage. Most dreamboxes have a resistor feeding the card slot of either 0.3 or 0.5 ohm, this needs to be minimum 1ohm or you risk buring the card if its not. There is a voltage regulating diode in the cards and this burns itself if too much voltage is fed through it. Older 096A cards will still run ok but get very hot because this voltage regulating diode can cope with the increase in voltage but not the newer cards.
I would have thought that the standard card would be receiving the DVB-S mpeg2 576i stream of TV1. The MySky HDi card should receive the DVB-S2 H.264 1080i stream.
