Yup, its all beginning to feel very familiar - it was about this time last year I was waiting for the Xperia and kept getting delayed again and again...

Problem is the delayed release means it'll be hitting around the same time as the Sony X3 if the news today is legit (its from SEMC blog, so seems likely), and also about the time the HTC HD2 hits stores. Since I'm getting all three handsets that puts me in something of a quandary...

if only we could amalgamate the 3 - HTC for the screen/hardware, the OS from Rachael, and the price/camera and storage from the n900 (have you seen some of the pics from the Leo - truly shocking (bad))

Yup, HTC has yet to produce an even half decent camera, its true. Too bad its screen isn't OLED though, that really would have made it perfect (capacitive+WVGA+large+OLED... guess I'll be waiting for Samsung to serve this constellation of features up sometime in the new year...).

as long as they (samsung) stay away from symbian (atleast in its current form- QT has some promise).
Having been away from winmo (windows phone - does that even sound right) i am also reluctant with winmo 6.5 though HTC has definitely made improvements over the vanilla MS version. As Rachael is rumored (in the last days) to have a release date around the Leo and Rover i'll see which is winning at the time. Though going below a 4inch screen at that date just doesn't seem right - and the fact that the n900 is carrying a CPU 10? months old isn't helping....

I won't get them all at once, but now I potentially have to pick which first, rather than just purchasing them in order of release and having at least a month between handsets to really give them a solid trial. Usually I get a new phone and use it as my main phone for a few weeks, keeping the last one until I get a solid feeling that the new one is better for my needs, then selling whichever comes off second best.

Sounds like you have the same problem that I do. I seem to change phones about every 3 months. I'm trying to work through my issues ;).

Yup, same problem...

It generally works out OK though, the dollar is high right now, and usually I sell them for nearly what I paid for them a couple of months down the line. Its ideal purchasing them when the dollar is this high, then when it falls they become more expensive to purchase from the parallel importers and its even possible to make a profit on resale :)

That's exactly what I keep telling my wife. I just make sure I get them network unlocked over here which means they keep their value really well. I also only purchase smartphones as I need the email function on the go.

Good to see other people have the same 'illness' I have ;).

So have we got a time when we are able to get these phones in the country at a resonable price yet when we pool together, really keen aye.
