JaBZ is saying, He really is not missing out on much. His life is not going to become so much better with GSM Coverage. I changed from GSM to CDMA a year to two back, and never looked back. Where I live Better Coverage, No Problems with dropped calls like I used to get, Good handsets, FAST and RELIABLE data services. I say fingers crossed he gets better CDMA coverage before GSM Coverage.

Are they? How come AT&T and T Mobile have the biggest churn rates out of any network including Sprint? And Verizon has one of the fastest growth rate?? Your facts are wrong John.

http://www.nwfusion.com/news/2004/0223attwireless.html

"Why are AT&T and Cingular having trouble holding on to customers? Because of "poor customer service, spotty coverage and a difficult transition from one network technology to another," says Bob Egan, president of Mobile Competency in a report. "

"Last year, AT&T Wireless and Cingular lost more customers than competitors Nextel, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. "

WOW!

Yep, and discussing if CDMA or GSM has more uptake, and why, is off topic to the original post.

Time for a coffee...

Besides changing the number in the phone , there are many other setting you need to change to get the phone to work on another network eg PRL,SID,NID,OTASP etc,, which are not accessed from the keypad , only Noia can change these setting with a tool. Also you have to amke version add you ESN to there database so you can get loaded into there system , good luck!!

Why would you want to buy a CDMA handset in NZ ?
surely it would be cheaper in the USA ?
any good second hand ones on E Bay ?
the other problem is you will need to check if the charger is dual voltage
and 50 60 hz compatiable and you will need an adaptor for the NZ pin configuration !

You can not connect any handset to Telecoms mobile network, It has to be approved by them

Nothing like putting a SIM into and new phone and turning it on

Yes exactly
In my 10 year time as a Telecom NZ dealer , we were always told not to encourage people to connect overseas TDMA and later CDMA phones , due to ESN prefix issues , software issues , some series of ESN groups not been loaded on the Switch / CCMS etc
Also some models do not hold a current NZRFS / MED type approval !
