Is the Sony Ericsson k700 going to have many of the same features of the GX30? like video, 1 mega pixel camera, etc?

Thanks

i still maintain that the k700 will be about $800 (only my idea, don't hold me to it :P).
Trademe users selling k700 are just trying to make more money selling them before they come out here...

K700 will have video (as far as i know) but it still only has the standard VGA camera.

Correct K700 is only VGA but if you go to www.esato.com you can see some photos taken with the phone, I must say they are very impressive (much better than T610, T630, Z600) it also takes impressive panaromic shots. Going by what I see the on K700 the S700 which is the phone I hope to buy should be amazing with its photo / video capabilities.

You'll be wanting the S700 then, rumour is it will be available about September:

Larger Screen than K700
1.3 Meg camera
Memory card

etc... have a look at it, its a rotating form, you'll need to see a picture to understand.

Plenty of pics on Esato or Mobile Review

One of the guys that lurks around the mobile phone forums mentioned the S700 is going to the States this week for Network Validation so end of the year for release might be true. This fella for some reason always gets pre-release phones (good connections or plenty of money) but his information is usually pretty accurate

Santa might bring me a S700 if I'm good ;)

Problem with that it has to many of these: $$$

Thats why I'm putting away money each month so when the S700 arrives I'll have the dosh :)

The Brag factor makes it all the more worth it, even more so if it has Symbian OS which a few websites have hinted @

But will probably wait a month or so after release for bug fixes......K700 has a few lil bugs already (more annoying than affects the phones performance

Update:

I was amazed to see an advert for the K700 in this months Netguide, guess there trying to drum up interest because you cant buy it yet.

AND: It is no longer listed as "Coming Soon" on the SE website. For the T630 it took about 2 weeks to appear in shops after this change.

We wait and hope...

I was in Dick Smiths today and their computer system along with their website price a handset for $799 for the k700.
You can search it on their website www.dse.co.nz no word on a release date but i'm getting sick of searching to find nothing.

I've also seen adverts for it, there was one in the last telecommunications review

Excellent news, thanks SNicolle. I'm happy with that price ($200 cheaper than the nokia 6230 I was half thinking of getting), petermcc you were spot on:) I was also sick of waiting for this phone and was about to order a parallel imported one today for $820.

I'm pretty sure the retail ones are going to be heavily Vodafone Live! customized (from reading the vodafone network approval email in First Mobile) so I still might get the parallel imported one when the price drops some more :) One thing though is the place offers a 180 day return to base warranty only which I'm a little confused and concerned about. What do people buying this phone think?

If you look @ the bottom of the DSE page for K700 it says due in 15th July...DSE are usually pretty good with dates so expect it around then give or take a few days :)

I never saw the date in the dse page but just looked now and thats great and exciting news.
In terms of SE warranties I'm not sure but for some reason I believe they are void cross borders? or I might just be dreaming.
Parallel Importing doesn't appeal to me, has anyone seen the bugs other people have uncovered with the K700, I've heard mixed reviews but I'm interest to see for myself.

looks like you guys beat me by a few hours...

today i enquired at the local first mobile store and was shown a dummy phone, looks nice :D

They said that it is due August 1st for them and expected to retail at $899. It WILL have VF live customization which if the german version is anything to go by... SUX.

The vf germany version of the k700 has a completely different menu lacking the cool effects SE have added and some buttons have been changed to lead to the live site, very unfortunate.

I will try to get to a DSE store tommorow to enquire whether theirs will be VF Live customised as well. Could it be possible that DSE have a non vodafone version and hence the price difference??

I think your hopes are high because most dse stores I go to have a instore vodafone outlet.

I had a t-610 for a period with se software and later used one customised for vflive and i know i'd rather the se firmware.
you can do firmware upgrades but it probably voids your warranty.

I've downloaded a ton of games for the k700 just to increase my excitement levels. Looks like I'll be visiting dse tomorrow too.

When you say dummy phone do you mean a shelf phone that is a dud, or a working display phone?
