As per the following e-mail...

T630 will only be sold by dealers (Whatever that means) :S ?!?
K700 will be released in June (Not too long a wait) :D

Dear Peter

Thank you for your email

Our Product Manager - Mobile Phones, has advised that the T630 will not
be launched by VF stores but most likely through dealers, and
the K700 is a June product.

Keep checking the Vodafone website, as it is updated on a regular basis,

Any more news on this? RRP?

Looks perfect to replace my trusty T68i, I had been thinking a T630 until I discovered the K700 today :) what a huge improvement!

Yeah, the T630 is not much better than the T610 although the things that have been improved were important.

If you've read any of my other posts im hanging out for a K700. I'd say it would be around $800 perhaps less when it comes out. When it comes out...? Good question, it won't be the 1st of June , probably either the end of june, start of July.

As a guide:

From the time the Sony Ericsson website listed the T630 being available >> it actually being available was about 3-4 weeks. So keep checking the SE site to see when the K700 changes, hopefully soon.

BTW if you don't want to wait I've seen some good prices for the T630... around $580-$600 for either Black or White.

I called Vodafone Tuesday and they couldn't give me an ETA.
I called First Mobile and they will have them in stock next week! Couldn't give me a RRP though.

Let us know if you hear anything.

Vodafone hinted at early July when I e-mailed them. Next week sounds better.

I believe that the K700 will be like the T630, not sold officialy by vodafone ( and so not customised :D ) so First Mobile would probably be more accurate although i'm not sure about a week - sounds good though.

Called my girl at First Mobile again today.

She said the phone came into NZ June 4 and will be distributed to retail over the next week.

Price is $899 which sounds alright to me and I'll probably buy one as soon as I see one.

Or anyone know where I could get a better deal?

Are all phones sold now 'unlocked' - ie. can I swap in/out my vodafone(nz) and t-mobile(usa) sim cards when I travel to the USA?

yeah, the phone are all in "unlocked" state, due to the subsidy withdraw and no contract plan on personal account, all phones are sold as retail priced.

Hmmm. I know I've said this before, but I think $900 is too expensive. Bearing in mind that you can get a T610/T630/Z600 for $550 - $600, what makes the K700 worth the extra $300?

Despite the obvious battering that it's taken over its life, I think I'll be sticking with my T610 for a while.

Well for me the VGA camera, 32MB memory, FM Radio and MP3/AAC player/ringtones/alarms are worth $300.

I have some very cool software to set up a moblog and planning to use the camera often. The T6xx camera wouldn't cut it. The K700 is my pick of tri-band bluetooth camera phones.

I'm upgrading from a T68i.

From the GM of SE NZ
"First stock should land at the end of this month. "
this was on the 11 of June

Sim Barring isn't all too common in NZ, it is in Aus, UK, USA I believe they are sold unbarred

I'm keen to see this phone as soon as possible but thats life.
I was also told by a vodafone rep mid may that they had it for testing of compatibility

hope it helps

The stink thing is the K700 is gonna have Vodafone Live all over it. So you lose the lovely SE icons

That bites.

Any further news on K700?

I'm hangin out for the S700

I simply asked Vodafone and they told me to expect its release in July and that it 'most likely will have Vodafone Live customisation'

bugger, however it is still possible that it will be released by other retailers as well and may not be customised by them.

Well from what I gather any place that has ties with Vodafone, ie most cellphone stores will have K700 with Vodafone live as the only option. But of course you will be able to deal with an online company that can supply unbranded versions. From what I have seen www.expansys.co.nz is a good place its a worldwide company, the phones available on its site in otherr countries so NZ wont be far off

It's interesting that K700s are starting to appear on Trademe, and the bids seem to sit around the $1000 mark. In the comments sections, people are speculating that the K700 might initially retail for well over $1000!

Someone even justified that by pointing out that the P900 is around $1500, which seems like a stupid thing to say in my opinion because the K700 is not even in the same league as the P900.
