There is such a thing as a Free Service Centre.

johnr= Bus Inbou? (Just Curious)

free service centre numbers are given to winners of "free text for day/month/week/year". It was also given to V staff back in the day.

*BTW*
SMS over GPRS = MMS

Haha

I thought that was the case with the staff, just was not 100%.

I know it is correct for the free text promo since i was the one to release the Centre Service Number to the winners.

You can send a pxt from a pxt handset to a non-pxt handset as a text message if you know what you are doing. You can also send a text message from a non pxt handset as a pxt to a pxt handset.

Email me @ se7enangel82@hotmail.com if you work for Voda and want to know how.

Precisely, this is to prevent people copying the CSN and getting free text. But if the customer changed the CSN to +6421600600 the charges would have been as per normal.

Hence, free SMS via CSN. =p

I concede your point, my post was not detailed enough to make this clear.

Is the issue with sleepy Ericsson's and SE's with GPRS set to always on still an issue johnr? I thought the issue was fixed around the middle of last year? Having said that Vodafone staunchly denied for over a year there was any issue at all!

Via GPRS?

In Italy you pay the same tariff... also if you want to use gprs (and a special program) to send sms check www.mobiwireless.com/MobiSMS (case sensitive, pay attention)

"Free" service centres will not work. Vodafone have blocked this.

GPRS to send SMS did work some time ago but was buggy so was stopped to my knowledge.

I had a 6310 when it worked, went overseas, came back with a 6310i from Germany (and it's made there), and it didn't work anymore.

Delivering the messages was the same, usual GSM.

Charging? it's still 20c as it's bills when it's sent off from the network to the recipient.

"Free" Text tricks do not exist. Staff were loaded properly not new SMSC's
The "year" free promo's were +6421600620 and something was back-end loaded to allow this smsc to work. it WONT work otherwise (if it does work now, you'll be billed.)

Free TXT does exist, it's extremely rare and I have 3 of the connections and know of the other few people who have them.. what network is it on? that would be telling! it's not obtained by a method however, nor is it abused (I wouldn't even send 50 a month from it)

Does anybody know of a good SMS program that will send AND receive SMS via a Nokia 7610 hooked up by bluetooth to an iPaq 2210? I have been using Simple SMS up to now with Nokia 6820, but the 7610 uses a different (Symbian) OSm which stores the incoming messages in a propretory dayabase instead of the SIM card and Simple SMS does nor support this. Has anybody come across a soultion? Cheers Geoff

There's no such thing as "gprs message". GPRS is charged by traffic, in KBytes.
