I was on the Audiovox web site and they say they have a software package and data cable but it wont work for a CDM-8900 made for verizon when it comes to downloading pictures from the phone to the pc. I have a Verizon 8900 and I downloaded the software from Criitel and it does that too only downloads the phonebook won't let me do any pictures. Has anyone else got the Verizon CDM-8900 to download pictures to their PC?

i have two questions. 1st, when i try to upload melody's to my phone a message pops up saying: "Your handset firmware must be upgraded to upload melody file. Please contact Curitel service center." i was wondering what that meant and how i could solve my problem. 2nd, when i upload my images, the don't show up, the name is there but no image shows on my phone screen. also, it seems to freeze my phone up and i cant look at anything else until i press back. what is wrong there?

Hello andyb. My software version is T095NZ2T23_0.191 and I've had zero success trying to get anything from the NZ service agent (mobilefonerepair.com). Telecom haven't been much help either. Any ideas on where I might find a dealer who actually knows what to do? Cheers

Any Telecom Dealer should be able to have the software upgraded, not sure whether they do it on site or send it away thou.

Cheers. So far they've been no help, other than to direct to mobile fone repair. I'll try the Telecom Data Help Desk.

Hello fatman751. Have you tried www.howardforums.com ? There are a number of threads there with issues relating to the Audiovox CDM 8900, the US version of the NZ model (Hyundai TX95c). There were a few mentions of work arounds for uploading images to the verizon version. You might have problems trying to use the NZ software for the US phones. Hope this helps.

andyb: care to share your methods? I have tried converting a mp3 to midi extension, then uploading with Bitpim but with no luck :(

Also, how do you upload fullscreen wallpapers and/or animated gifs? I read that .png should appear fullscreen (without borders), but I tried a png but can't even view it on phone.

Cheers

Tends to be a bit of a hit and miss sometimes.

Starting with an mp3, I convert it to a .wav, using something like MusicMatch Jukebox.
I then open the .wav in Audacity.
You can then delete the parts of the track that you don't want. Generally you need you cut it down to below 20sec.
Once finished I save it as a .wav.
I then open it up in MusicMatch Jukebox, and convert it back to .mp3, but I reduce the kbps. This reduces the file size down.
The file size needs to be less than 60k. The kbps to reduce it down to seems to be a bit of a hit and miss, sometimes it works at 40kbps, sometimes it doesn't. ditto 32kbps, I don't know why.
Once converted, you can then rename the resulting file to a .mid
I then upload it to the phone using the Hyundai/Curital software.

It can be hard to get the .wav file down to a size which includes enough of the track, but will not be too big, when converted back to a mp3.

I have never been able to upload a animated pic to the phone, also it spits the dummy when I try to upload a .png, I use .jpg instead.

Again file size needs to be less than 60k.

Thanks for that andyb

It sure is a mission getting the file down to under 60kb..

I tried uploading a mp3 mid but when I tried to play it on the phone it would just say Invalid File. Delete?

Any idea if there is a program out there like Brewsky but compatible with the tx-95c?

Hi Rick,
I use the Hyundai software from the Curitel site.

http://www.curitel.com/english/download/pcsynch.asp

It's probably no use to you as it appears it is especially designed for NZ Hyundai TX95c, otherwise known as audiovox cdm 8900. The curitel software is very easy to use, but from reading other forums it appears it isn't even close to being compatable with the 8900.
The best way for you to learn would be to check out the Howard Forums.

http://www.howardforums.com/index.php?s=

Go to the Audiovox forum.....

these discuss how to get mp3s on to the 8900, and a quite helpful, despite some of it not being very applicable.
It really appears that even though they are the same phone, ie functionality, look etc, the software is pretty different, ie the Howard Forums talk about putting .png pics on to the phone as backgrounds, my Hyundai throws a mental when you put a .png onto it, only .jpg's seem to work.

It's the same story with .gifs and animations.

The site also discusses the verizon banner

good luck!
