It seems that the 3205 and 6225 are still the only offerings with cameras, so people who want to use Photo Messaging definitely have limited options.
I expect that Telecom must have some other options in the pipeline because this is probably costing them a lot of business, and it looks like there are plenty of camera phones on Sprint's website that Telecom could beg/borrow/steal.
The Nokia 6015 looks like a replacement for the 3586 which was recently discontinued, but being colour I suspect that the 2280 wont be around for much longer either. The problem with getting more handsets is that many of them fail whem PTC tested and get sent back to manufactures to rework software so that they are completely compatible with NZ network. EG there has been a Motorola Spriit (Dedicated car phone CDMA) in testing for months, but it keeps failing. With NZ being so small I guess the manufactures dont break their necks to get the mods done! So that is an advantage of the old GSM same phone on any network across the globe.
Just had a look at the details for the N391, doesnt look too bad for the price of it $299. looks like the n361 with a little flip up camera and it apparantly has a flash too. Still waiting on final PTC tho.
Yeah i looked at the N391 on the net to. Looks to be a good phone. Im not sure what to get though, the Nokia 6225 and get the $499 back as credit, or wait till this phone comes out.
The N391 has been released today and should be in stores tomorrow. Looks like a good price for phone with camera. It can not download ganes etc tho, just ringtones. It does have a 900 entry phone book!
The suppliers have no stock yet so wont be in stores tomorrow, but as MFR said telecom have announced a release date subject to supply. A couple of days at least - may not get it before the trade in deal is up. If I were you I'd go for the 3205 over the 6225, better buttons, even if they are unusual.
Whats the differences between the 3205 and the 6225, other than the price the only differences i can find are the faceplates and the flashlight... not worth a $100 price difference
I had a 6225, I liked it - great phone. I sold it to buy a 3205, which I like even better.
3205 has flashlight, bigger and easier to press power button, different faceplates / keypad. The keypad is -much- easier to text with. Dont let the layout put you off - it took 24 hours to get 100% comfortable with it.
Im glad I switched. Wouldnt go back if you paid me (well.... depends on how much you are offering i suppose).
N391 Samsung -
Looks good.
Pros:
65k Colour Screen
Rotating camera
Small and light
Cons:
External aerial
Its a Samsung (a little awkward for txting and menu navigation compared to Nokia (in MY opinion))
No game downloads (who actually cares about games on thier phone???)
No wallpaper downloads (its got a camera - take your own pics!!)
only because after the last while with no Sanyos, dealers have over ordered to cover for this eventuality. There are 6000 floating around from the last shipment, a fair number of them still unconnected (i.e. sitting on a dealers shelf). Dealer Account managers can have them released for managed accounts (i.e. cust spend more than 12-15k per annum).
So if I walk into a Telecom store in the next few days, what is the likelyhood that they will be able to sell me a Sanyo? Telecom are damned lucky that the Nokia 3205 is readily available because, otherwise, they would have a massive gaping hole in their product range.
Incidentally, I think Telecom have plans to release a couple of other Sanyo phones for their launch of push-to-talk. I'm not sure of specs or ETA, but someone else here may be in the loop.
As an afterthought, the new Hyundai camera phone must not be too far off either.
I suppose most of us using this forum would by now be avid readers of the MyMobile magazine. Anyway, in relation to that new Samsung N391 coming soon...
It could be another typo in the handsets guide, but under the specifications for the N391 is says Camera-Yes, VGA 0.3 Megapix, however it says MMS - No.
So this phone might not even have MMS - anyone know?
