And you need to stamp on the phone after hurriedly throwing it to the ground. Very important 'step' that shouldn't be missed!

You still have to remove the battery just in case the phone is bugged and that bug is using the battery to power itself.

 

And you definitely have to try to destroy the phone and discard the remains because it might be bugged with a device that has it's own power source.
