why are you using so much GPRS on prepay anyway. Go get a data only Acc and cut your charges by heaps, and if you don't use it for a few months place it on the 0 meg plan.

I use Megs and Megs one month, then i use nothing the following month...
it's very hard to tell in advance how much i'm going to need.

I don't want to make voice calls - i don't want to send sms..
I just want GPRS.... (and to receive sms+voice calls)

which plan do you recommend?

Data only plans have the voice barred and you can change your GPRS plan whenever you like. it is prorated when between billing cycle dates. View the GPRS plans on the www.vodafone.co.nz site, and if you are not going to use it for a while ring up and request to go on the 0 meg plan and that is $0 per month when not used.

My bill has just arrived in the mail today, I would have probably used around 3MB for the month (on the 3MB plan) but the summary page for my bill says 0MB and on the back page I have total usage of live.vodafone.com 1136640MB total charges $0.00 and www.vodafone.net. 860160MB total charges $0.00

I didn't think it was physically possible to xfer that amount of data over GPRS in a month! :-)

It's obvious Vodafone have huge issues with their GPRS billing, (the month before I was charged excess data despite not using 3MB!).. We can only hope they can sort their issues out soon.

After speaking to Vodafone they acknowledged their have been major issues with GPRS billing over the past 2 months where some people have been overcharged for GPRS usage. I wonder how many prepay customers there are out there who could have been charged for usage and have no bill to actually know they have been overcharged??

I've got an interesting GPRS summary on my vodafone bill too:

live.vodafone.com 9216MB
www.vodafone.net. 0MB
www.vodafone.net. 3707599.9999MB

although the last line is particularly hard to read as the APN name is overwritten by the usage figure. Never knew my little i-mate Pocket PC was capable of moving terrabytes of data each month. I'm so glad the total charges for the month come to $0, as I don't think I could afford the data charges on that level of usage!

Yes, their system has this fault for years now. I've been using their GPRS service for long time and always saw this kind of error. Amazes me that this is so high profile - every month all GPRS users receive their invoices with errors, but still no one there fixes it.

I've just got my latest bill and now see that there is no mention of WAP usage either on the front page or the GPRS summary on the back page. Since all of my data is listed under the www.vodafone.net. APN on the back page I can only assume I didn't pay for WAP since that should be billed under the live.vodafone.com APN. I wonder if this means free WAP?

I wonder if Vodafone can ever get this right??

To add to this after speaking to several people at Vodafone this afternoon they have told me all WAP traffic is now included under the www.vodafone.net. APN and that WAP traffic is no longer separated from GPRS data traffic on the www.vodafone.net.nz APN. They could not tell me why this change has happened and what was wrong with the old bill which split data between the live.vodafone.com APN and www.vodafone.net.nz APN.

Is there anybody out there who can give any insight into Vodafone's crappy billing system and how GPRS data should be (and is) billed?

My understanding (ie - dont hold me to this one!) was that they made all of the Vodafone Live pages free gprs, so now you only pay flat rates for the services you use (like games etc) and no longer get billed for the game + the data to download it.

Anything outside of live is charged as data.

I assume as live is now free the live.vodafone.com APN will no longer appear on the bill? (even though technically we are still using the data, just its free)
Has anyone else seen the live APN on their bill since it became free?

Incorrect all WAP traffic goes through the live.vodafone.com APN

I am aware all traffic to Vodafone Live! is now free. The only time I'd ever access Vodafone Live! is when I accidently knock the button! I do however use around 1MB or so per month however on other WAP traffic. I just can't understand why Vodafone would be merging that with www.vodafone.net.nz APN traffic.
