Well I've struck an interesting problem in Hong Kong. Using either an eSIM or my hotels Wi-Fi, I cannot get voice of a Wi-Fi calls to work. Using the same settings I was using when I was in China now cause I'm trying to be routed through the kogan SIM rather than through Wi-Fi. So I get a messages saying I cannot make these calls.
But what is interesting is that I am able to send and receive SMS. In fact, I was able to send an SMS to Australia and get a response. So that's clearly using VoWi-Fi so I have no roaming plan in Hong Kong.
I did actually have a need to make a call to New Zealand to my local bank to get my online password reset 🙂. So luckily since I have a 2talk SIP phone at home, I was able to use a SIP client to connect to my account and make the call as if it were local. But I have not yet been able to get that client to receive calls.
