Shelf Display phone unfortunately... real size and wieght though. The only thing you can't tell is the pressure on the buttons, sometimes this isn't the same.

What did you want to know about the real one?? I can probably tell you as ive researched this quite a bit.

In case u guys didnt know, if u get a K700 with VF Live on it, playback of MP3 files as ring tones is disabled, you have to use MP3 from Vodafone in order to use as ring tones, another reason not to get VF Live on the phone, bloody money making tactics of Vodafone :(

stinga i did see that which really gets up my nose (to put it politely) but thats life, I am inclined to desire the SE firmware and I'm sure its upgradable and if not I will be on vodafones case. Although in following this phone in release overseas I've heard rumour that Vodafone will update their firmware to allow mp3 ringtone use. Before I acquire it I will definately make sure the salesperson says it does to give me an out

The VF Live Icons and colour scheme are just AWFUL. It spoils the look of a most excellent phone, I dont know what Vodafone were thinking.

I'll be aiming to get an unbranded phone, but Im getting the S700, was happy to see the good price of K700 on DSE so the S700 (should) be 200-300 more which isnt bad

Something very odd going on at DSE website. Now that it is supposed to have been released there are many search results for the phone (Phone on its own and phone with all the different plans). However when you click on any of these results it takes you back to the homepage.

Will ring them soon.

Weird, working fine for me, still showing out of stock due July 15 (today!)

I have a question, when I go back to the USA in December and pop in my Tmobile SIM card what happens to all the vodafone customizations? Can I just change the settings to work with Tmobile (t-zones, etc.) and just have to use the bright red vodafone menus?

I'm going to ask vodafone when I buy the phone but anyone know?

Cheers.

Just rang the DSE office... they said that their not sure about whether it will be available today, it may be delayed but it definately will be $799.

They weren't sure about the VF Customisation and suggested i ring a branch where they might have more info. Will do this soon.

Finally, mike, i'm not exactly sure but I would be careful buying the VF customised versions... sometimes these are 'locked' to only work on that companies network.

If DSE's phone turns out to be VF customised (probably will be) I will be writing to VF about this and buying a non-VF version from somewhere.

If i find a good importer i'll let you guys know.

Hi all,

After using the k700 for a week or so its more a Evolution, not revolution based on a t610

Just had a facelift, better camera, keyboard more memory etc.

Its a great phone and a lot nicer in build than the Nokia offerings.

All the Vodafone Live nockers out there it does not spoil a great phone.

Highly recomened.

In stores shortly.

cheers.

mobileguy, how'd you get your hands on it?

I'm not a vflive fan for customisation. my big question is can you upload a mp3 and set it as your ringtone, i've heard vodafone in uk etc wont let you to encourage(force) use of vf live.

Hi,

Its not what you know but who you know.

This model has been around for the last few months being tested and network approved.

Phones in small amounts always arrive in country for testing several months before they are avalable in store.

I was lucky to borrow one off a Vodafone person I know.

My issues with the customisation are the following...

The changed menu and such.
The forced red and logo (wouldn't mind if it was just a little logo somewhere).
Forced Vodafone Live and the difficulty of accessing other WAP sites.
Limited file transfer and bluetooth functionality (see vodafone live above).
Changing of buttons to *encourage* vodafone live use. Not only does it force it on you but it limits the phones functionality by taking away what those buttons used to do.
Finally the *locking* of the phone to Vodafone network (ie: can't be used with other operators).

NB: I'm not sure whether the last point has been implemented on the K700 but all the others will be as far as i know.
